Company Summary

EchoStar is reimagining the future of connectivity. Our business reach spans satellite television service, live-streaming and on-demand programming, smart home installation services, mobile plans and products.

Today, our brands include Boost Mobile, DISH TV, Gen Mobile, Hughes and Sling TV.

Our Wireless Technology team is pioneering the future of connectivity. We're developing and enhancing a unique hybrid network model—combining our advanced, cloud-native 5G core with the nationwide reach of our partners. This approach ensures our network is flexible and powerful, designed to satisfy the social, economic, and transformative needs of the changing world.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Candidates must be willing to participate in at least one in-person interview, which may include a live whiteboarding or technical assessment session.

The rapid convergence of artificial intelligence and telecommunications demands unified technical specifications to ensure safety, interoperability, and automated network operations. This role resolves the architectural disconnect between cloud-native cellular systems and emerging agentic AI frameworks across international standardization bodies, including 3GPP, ITU-T, and ISO/IEC. The position directs the technical standards strategy to operationalize AI observability, autonomous network management, and 6G integration across hybrid wireless infrastructure. These contributions safeguard network assets while accelerating Level 4 autonomous network capabilities and cross-industry interoperability.

What Success Looks Like (Objectives)

  • Represent EchoStar and Boost Mobile as the lead delegate across global AI and telecommunications standards bodies to drive technical consensus on system architectures and open APIs.

  • Translate emerging AI safety, governance, and security standards into enforceable enterprise architecture guardrails and threat models.

  • Establish standardized patterns and observability frameworks for multi-agent workflows, tool invocations, and agentic interoperability protocols.

  • Architect hybrid core network standards bridging cloud-native 5G assets, Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) integration, and 6G sensing to achieve departmental network automation OKRs.

  • Deploy AI and data frameworks that advance operational capabilities toward Level 4 Autonomous Networks aligned with ITU-T recommendations.

Skills, Experience and Requirements

Core Skills and Competencies (What you'll bring)

  • Critical experience contributing to global AI standards bodies and governance frameworks, including ISO/IEC, ITU-T, and GenAI OWASP.

  • Advanced technical mastery of 3GPP System Architecture (SA2, SA5, SA6) and TM Forum autonomous network frameworks across multi-release 5G and 6G lifecycles.

  • Demonstrated AI innovation skills in applying agentic systems, AI observability standards, and interoperability protocols to carrier-scale infrastructure.

  • Proven ability to navigate international consensus-building environments and negotiate strategic standards alignments across competing industry stakeholders.

  • Strategic problem-solving capability to translate high-level business goals into protocol-level architecture specifications and data models.

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience developing end-to-end wireless system requirements across User Equipment (UE), Radio Access Network (RAN), and Core Network (CN).

  • Familiarity with AI applications in physical layer (PHY) and Next-Generation Radio Access Network (NG-RAN) environments.

  • Working knowledge of telecommunications regulatory compliance, data privacy frameworks, and AI ethics mandates.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field

  • Minimum Experience: 10+ years in wireless standards development within 3GPP, GSMA, or TM Forum, with demonstrated contributions to AI standardization bodies

  • Required Technical Skills: Must have at least 10 years of experience with one or more of:

    • 3GPP SA2 (System Architecture), SA5 (OAM), or SA6 (Open APIs)

    • TM Forum frameworks and specifications related to AI and Autonomous Networks

    • 5G and 6G system architecture, interface design, and Cloud-native Network Functions (CNFs)
